Dayna Schaef

Consultant

Dayna is a graduate student in the English department at CU Denver and a TA for Composition and Rhetoric. She has a B.A. In English with a specialization in Creative Writing from Florida State University and has worked in journalism, art, and education for the past 15 years. She is obsessed with reading memoirs and has almost finished writing her own. She is a mother, a pediatric cancer research advocate, and a big fan of weightlifting — though she's not very good at it.

Originally endeavoring to be a musician by trade, Dayna sang opera, jazz, and bluegrass and played flute, guitar, and bagpipes. Yes. Bagpipes. But during her undergraduate education, she put those things down to address the inner calling to write. She hoped that maybe she could impact the world for good if she could find a way to use her voice for justice, education, and amplification of underserved communities. Now she is passionate about helping students find their voices, too.
