A common frustration for faculty is that students do not produce the type and level of writing that is expected. This workshop, designed for teachers at all levels of experience, will introduce elements of designing and creating effective writing assignments, including format and structure, activating prior knowledge, and designed intent. We will also discuss strategies for creating opportunities for student discussion and engagement. Attendees will have the chance to create new assignments or revise current assignments.
