Bland Affective Neuroscience Lab

The focus of the Bland lab is on Affective Neuroscience, including social behavior, reward/reinforcement, and conditioned fear using rodent models.

Current projects:

  1. Developmental influences on social interaction, including social fear and social buffering.
  2. Circadian regulation of conditioned fear extinction memory (collaboration with Dr. Robert Spencer at CU Boulder).
  3. Metabolic influences on alcohol reward and reinforcement (collaboration with Dr. Richard Johnson at UCD Anschutz Medical Campus).

Our studies are done using rat and mouse models and explore relationships between behaviors and changes in the brain. Current studies are focused on plasticity related proteins and pathways in limbic regions including the prefrontal cortex and amygdala.
