Paralegal Agreement: CCD to CU Denver PSCI

Paralegal Agreement

What is the Paralegal Transfer Agreement?

The Paralegal Transfer Agreement is an agreement that allows students in the Community College of Denver AAS Paralegal program to transfer credits to the University of Colorado Denver's political science major.

Who is the Paralegal Transfer Agreement for?

The Paralegal Transfer Agreement is intended for CCD students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Paralegal program who wish to continue their study at CU Denver towards a BA in Political Science. This agreement establishes a clear way for students to transfer from CCD to CU Denver while maximizing credit transfer and keeping academic progress.

Process:

1. Review Transfer Requirements: CCD students who wish to transfer to CU Denver should carefully review the transfer requirements provided in the Paralegal Transfer Agreement to verify eligibility.

2. Consult with advisers: Students are invited to meet with academic advisers at both CCD and CU Denver to discuss their transfer plans, course selection, and academic objectives.

3. Apply for Transfer: To be admitted to CU Denver, students must first complete the transfer application process. While the Paralegal Transfer Agreement includes some promises, entrance to CU Denver is not guaranteed; students should consult the CU Denver entrance website for particular admission requirements and procedures.

4. Meet Credit Transfer Criteria: To successfully transfer credits, students must guarantee that each course eligible for transfer from CCD to CU Denver receives a minimum grade of C- (1.7). Not all paralegal courses in the AAS — Transfer Degree program may transfer to CU Denver, so students should check course equivalencies.

5. Maintain Academic Standing: Students must maintain satisfactory academic standing at CCD and complete all criteria for graduation from the AAS — Paralegal program.

6. Fulfill Foreign Language Requirement: In order to remain eligible for the 60 + 60 agreement, students must complete the foreign language requirement prior to matriculating at CU Denver. Failure to meet this criteria may result in the agreement becoming void.

7. Fulfill BA Degree Requirements: After transferring to CU Denver, students must complete the lower division component of the CU Denver Core Curriculum and the remaining requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in political science within an additional 60 credits.

Please note: changing majors during or after transfer may influence the guarantees granted by the Paralegal Transfer Agreement, perhaps resulting in the loss of transfer credits.
