Autopsy of a Failed State: What South Korea's Successful COVID Response Teaches Us About America's Broken Politics with Dr. Tony Robinson

Though South Korea and the USA diagnosed their first COVID case on the same day, the USA exploded into the world’s worst COVID disaster, while South Korea kept the disease under control. With 52 million people, Korea today reports 2709 deaths (1 death per 20,000 people).  The USA reports 732,000 deaths among its 329 million people (1 death per 450 people). What explains these widely divergent results and what can a comparison of South Korea and America’s COVID response teach about the political landscape of both countries?

This talk will draw on Professor Tony Robinson’s recent sabbatical year living in South Korea.
