To all students interested in law school, Georgetown University is now offering a summer law program!
Applications are being accepted for an exceptional summer opportunity that may help prepare you for law school. Georgetown University's College of Arts & Sciences is offering Capitol Law @ GU: Georgetown Undergraduate Summer Law Institute — a five-week, 8-credit program designed specifically for undergraduate students interested in law. This is the first year that the program is being made available to non-Georgetown undergraduates.
Program Highlights:
Capitol Law @ GU offers students first hand exposure to legal education and the legal profession through immersive experiences in the heart of Washington, D.C. They'll participate in coursework taught by Georgetown faculty, explore D.C.'s legal landscape through field visits to federal courts and government agencies, meet with accomplished DC legal professionals, and develop critical skills in legal reasoning, research, and writing. The program also offers valuable insights into law school admissions and career pathways.
Why This Matters:
Many students enter law school with a limited understanding of what legal study and practice truly entail. Capitol Law @ GU offers them a low-risk, high-impact way to test their interest in law, strengthen their eventual law school applications by demonstrating commitment to the field, build confidence in their academic preparation, and make informed decisions about their future career paths.
Program Details:
- Duration: Five weeks in one of two sessions (June 1 – July 2 or July 6 – Aug 6)
- Location: Georgetown University’s Capitol Campus in Washington, D.C. (immediately adjacent to the Georgetown University Law Center)
- Who Should Apply: Current undergraduate students interested in legal careers
- Tuition: Competitively priced for this caliber of programming
Students should review the program details and consider applying. The priority application deadline is March 6 and the application is quite short. Georgetown's location and connections in the nation's capital make this a truly unique opportunity to experience legal education in context.
