We invite you to a unique opportunity to hear remarks from John Dinges, Journalism Professor (emeritus) at Columbia University and former correspondent for the Washington Post. He will speak about his new book, Chile in their Hearts, covering the “The Political Journey and Mysterious Deaths of Two Young Americans in Pinochet’s Chile.” The acclaimed1982 movie, Missing, covers aspects of these events as well. This is a unique opportunity to revisit a time of rising authoritarianism in Latin America, including a focus on young activists who resisted the dangerous tides, and the consequences they faced.
Professor Vanessa Navarro-Rodriguez from Poli Sci will introduce the speaker.
October 16th, 5:00 pm, in Student Commons 2500A. Light food and beverages will be provided.
Thank you to Anthropology, International Studies, History, and Communication Departments for cohosting this event.
