My name is Ali Al Nazzal, and my story is one of resilience and determination. Coming to the US as a refugee in 2012, I faced the challenge of starting from scratch, but I didn't let that stop me. After establishing a stable life for my family, I decided to pursue my passion for Political Science at CU Denver. Despite initial doubts about my age and fitting in with younger students, I found a welcoming and inclusive community that valued diverse perspectives.

CU Denver has not only broadened my academic horizons but also nurtured my passion for advocacy and inclusion. Through my involvement with PAL, Trio SSS, the BIPOC Committee at the Political Science Department, UAF (University Age Friendly), and the Peacexchange club at the Political Science Department, I've had the privilege of working with incredible people dedicated to making a positive impact. These experiences have taught me the power of collaboration, the importance of seeking help when needed, and the value of being true to oneself.

In addition to my experiences and involvements, I proudly earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Communication and a certificate in Middle East studies. Being recognized as the outstanding undergraduate for the Fall of 2023 was a significant honor. Currently, I'm pursuing my master’s degree in political science at CU Denver, furthering my academic journey and passion for understanding global affairs with a position as a TA in the Political Science department.

Recently, I was awarded the University of Colorado Scholarship to attend the 2024 Colorado Capitol Conference in Washington, D.C., next June. This opportunity not only reflects my dedication to academic and professional growth but also underscores the support and recognition I've received from CU Denver. It's another step forward in my commitment to making meaningful contributions to the field of political science and international studies.
