We are excited to announce that political science student Ali Alnazzal was awarded the Fall 2024 CLAS Outstanding Undergraduate Award!
Ali started his Political Science study at CCD with the goal of earning an associate degree that would enable him to work in an NGO. After transferring to CU Denver, Ali says that door after door was opened, and he became increasingly more involved with social and academic life on campus. Ali pursued a Middle East certificate offered by the International Studies department and enrolled in the BIPOC Student Resources Committee, headed by Professors Bassem Hassan and Nicholas Rockwell. Ali further engaged in community efforts to establish a driver’s cooperative after enrolling in an internship class with Professor Tony Robison. He also registered with the PeaceXchange, supervised by Professor Martin Widzer, and enrolled in PSCI's 4+1 program.
Ali says his academic journey in political science has been rich with intellectual discussion that opened his mind to many topics he had never thought he could discuss. He says that the Political Science Department "enlightened me with thoughts and ideas about the society I lived in, what is possible, and how I can achieve it. I am very grateful to all the Political Science professors who enriched my intellectual experiences."
Congratulations, Ali, on your achievement!
