Spring 2024 Internships with Rep. Pettersen

Applications for Spring 2024 internships available for Congresswoman Pettersen in both Lakewood, CO and Washington D.C. are open until December 1, 2023. Congressional internships provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn about the legislative process. D.C. Candidates must be willing to commit to working at least 10 weeks for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Lakewood Candidates must be willing to commit 10-20 hours a week with flexible hours between 9 am-6 pm. Spring internships will run from approximately early January until early May.

To apply for an internship, e-mail a cover letter, copy of your resume, and a brief 2–3 page writing sample (5 page max) to CO07internapplications@mail.house.gov with "[Your Last Name][Season][Year] Lakewood Internship in the subject line- for example "Smith Summer 2023 Lakewood Internship. For D.C., include D.C. Internship in the subject line. Interns working in Rep. Pettersen’s office are paid a stipend proportional to hours worked per week, which comes out to about $16 an hour. 

Interns will have a unique opportunity to learn about Capitol Hill and the legislative process. Internship duties include, but are not limited to, answering phones, sorting mail, attending briefings, drafting constituent correspondence, and providing research assistance to Rep. Pettersen’s legislative staff.
