Headshot of Jake KaiThe Political Science Department is proud to facilitate professional-level collaboration between students and experienced faculty. That is part of why we are excited to share work recently co-authored by Dr. Sasha Breger-Bush and her students! Published in the September/October 2023 edition of economics magazine Dollars & Sense, Will the World Ditch the Dollar? explores the current dominance of the U.S. dollar in the world economy and argues that the currency's position may not be as secure as many economists today believe.

Student authors were able to fulfill lifelong ambitions of having their work published professionally and gained first-hand experience in the level of professional rigor required in writing a published academic article. As co-author Jake Kai writes: "It's been a dream of mine since I was a child to have something published, and that dream has finally come true. Furthermore, my writing skills have improved significantly since working on that article."

Congratulations to Dr. Breger-Bush and all student co-authors on their exciting work!
