Applications for Fall 2023 internships in Congresswoman DeGette’s D.C. office are open until July 31, 2023. Congressional internships provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn about the legislative process. Candidates must be willing to commit to working at least 10 weeks for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Summer internships will run from approximately September 1 until mid-December.

To apply for an internship in our DC office, please e-mail a cover letter, copy of your resume, and a brief 2–3 page writing sample (may be section of a longer research paper) to DeGette.Internships@mail.house.gov. Interns working in Rep. DeGette’s office are paid a stipend proportional to hours worked per week, which comes out to about $15 an hour.

Interns in Rep. DeGette’s Washington, D.C. office will have a unique opportunity to learn about Capitol Hill and the legislative process. Internship duties include, but are not limited to, answering phones, sorting mail, attending briefings, drafting constituent correspondence, and providing research assistance to Rep. DeGette’s legislative staff.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions! As a former intern in this office, I can attest to the value of the experience.
