In the spring of their third year students in the BS in Physics - Pure & Applied Physics track can apply to switch into the 4+1 track that combines the BS in Physics with a Master of Integrated Sciences (MIS) degree.
Physics majors in the 4+1 track take, in their final undergraduate year, the graduate level versions of Quantum Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism plus the MIS Research Methods course and one other graduate course in their preferred secondary science discipline. These 12 credits count towards the undergraduate BS in Physics degree and the MIS graduate degree. During this final year student formally apply to be admitted into the MIS.
