The William Robert Simmons Scholarship

The William Robert Simmons Scholarship Endowment has been established to provide scholarships for undergraduate students matriculated in the CU Denver Physics, Mathematics, or College of Engineering and Applied Science undergraduate programs.

The Scholarship Fund has been established with funds from family, friends and colleagues of Professor William Robert (Bill) Simmons.

2021: Sarah Anderson (BS Physics anticipated 2024) and Bryan Heckman (BS Computer Science 2021)

2019: Jahoon Koo (BS Computer Science 2020) [Data Engineer at Solomon Page Professional Services/Cigna] and Raphael Hatami (BS Mechanical Engineering 2021) [Mechanical Engineer at NuSil Technology]

2018: Kyle Sower (BS Physics 2019) [DevOps Specialist at Compassion International]

2017: Todd Fulton (BS 2017 and MS 2018 Electrical Engineering ) [Staff Electrical Engineer at Analog Devices] and Michael Burgher (BS Physics 2019) [PhD Candidate in Mathematics at CU Denver]

2016: Rosa Wallace (BS Physics 2017) [PhD Candidate in Physics at University of California, Santa Cruz]

The Smilodon Award

Recipient shall be an undergraduate student majoring in physics. Preference will be given to students who express an interest in pursuing a career or graduate degree in physics. Students are nominated for the award by the physics faculty for their contributions to the Department.

The Joseph F. Froechtenigt Scholarship

The Joseph F. Froechtenigt Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to offer a university education to serious students who might otherwise not have the monetary resources necessary to allow them to devote themselves to learning. More specifically, the purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship support to individuals who have an interest in the sciences, particularly physics.

The Scholarship Fund has been established with funds from the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Joseph F. Froechtenigt.
