Why CU Succeed?

Convenience:  CU Succeed courses are conveniently taught in high schools by CU Denver approved high school faculty.

Early preparation:  CU Succeed courses offer exposure to the rigor of the college experience, which helps facilitate the transition from high school to college.

Transfer of Credits:  CU Succeed students earn real college credits, which are recorded on an official CU Denver transcript.  These  credits apply to degree programs at CU Denver, and they can be transferred to other colleges and universities.  Many of the courses offered satisfy core curriculum requirements, and are also included on the Colorado State-Wide Guaranteed (gtPathways) List.

Academic Success:  Recent national, state, and CU Denver studies demonstrate that students in concurrent enrollment programs achieve higher GPAs and have higher retention and graduation rates than other students.

Affordability:  Tuition for CU Succeed Gold courses is $75 per credit hour, a fraction of the cost of on-campus courses.  In addition,  CU Succeed students do not incur the costs of student fees and travel associated with on-campus courses.

For Schools and Teachers

Administrative Stipend: Participating schools receive compensation for courses they offer at the rate of $8 per credit hour per student.

Professional Development: The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at CU Denver hosts an annual CU Succeed Conference, with a variety of sessions addressing the needs of CU Succeed teachers.  Teachers who attend are eligible for CEUs.

Teacher Support: Some disciplines provide a faculty liaison to offer on-going support to teachers throughout the state, including on-site visits and assistance with curricular support.

Collaborative Partnerships:  CU Succeed promotes collaborative partnerships between high schools and CU Denver, emphasizing mutual learning and professional development.​

Requirements to Teach Philosophy in CU Succeed Courses

A master's degree in the discipline or

A master's degree outside the discipline and completion of a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Philosophy. In some cases, credits in relevant fields outside Philosophy may be counted as qualifying, but this must first be subject to departmental review approval by the Chair.​
