What AI Means for Us: CU Denver Philosopher Featured in New Documentary on Ethics and Being Human

Published: June 3, 2026

Dr. David Hildebrand, Professor of Philosophy at CU Denver, was recently interviewed for a forthcoming feature documentary, "A New Species: A Film about AI, Ethics, and What It Means to be Human". Produced by Yana Productions, the film explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping human understanding, decision-making, and the systems through which we determine truth.

The film brings together leading voices from technology, ethics, and culture, and will be submitted to Sundance and major international film festivals. Dr. Hildebrand was invited to contribute based on his research into the social effects of AI, how intelligent systems reshape meaning-making, and AI's relationship to epistemology and human agency. His interview addressed questions ranging from how AI is transforming human identity and collective understanding, to the ethical responsibilities of technology companies, to the deeper existential question of what it means to be human in an age of artificial intelligence.
