A student in the lab of Dr. Marino Resendiz, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Grijalva-Flores is exploring how oxidative lesions in RNA affect its structure and function-work that may provide new insights into the connection between oxidative stress and disease progression.

Recognized for their outstanding research and academic achievement, Grijalva-Flores also received travel grants from both the Colorado Section of the American Chemical Society (COACS) and NOS to support their participation at the conference.
