Emily (she/her) has worked in the nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years and has worked in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention, domestic violence, social justice leadership development, electoral justice, equity-based capacity building, and advocacy. Emily’s work is rooted in the belief that people most impacted by an issue should actively participate in shaping decisions and solutions. To do that, she’s engaged in both grassroots & grass tops strategies to amplify community voice including the integration of somatic work in transformative organizing practices. Regardless of her role, Emily approaches all of her work with a social justice framework. Emily also taught as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Denver in the Graduate School of Social Work teaching social welfare policy analysis and practice.
Currently, Emily is the founder and CEO of ESD Consulting, a consulting & training company focused on partnering with mission-driven organizations who want to create Sustainable Cultures of Belonging. Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & Black Studies and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management.
