Dear colleagues,

We are excited to share information on a 3-day online colloquium designed with, by, and for current and pre-service K-16 heritage language educators who come from heritage, bilingual, Indigenous, and transnational backgrounds. The event is hosted by a collaboration between the Multilingual Lab at Michigan State University and the University of Colorado, Denver and will include:

  • Workshops,
  • Panel discussions, and
  • Networking and mentorship opportunities for current and pre-service educators.

Additionally, we are very happy to welcome Francesca Venezia, Julio Torres, and Young-A Son for a speaker series that will be open to educators, scholars, and general enthusiasts! These speaker sessions are $10/session, and all funds collected through the series will go to Voices of Children, a non-profit that offers psychological support to children of war, and one other non-profit supporting heritage and multilingual communities that will be chosen by colloquium participants.

Educators from heritage and bilingual backgrounds can apply to take part at this linkAll those accepted for the full colloquium will be given a fee waiver for all speaker sessions and be considered for a fellowship stipend of up to $200! CEUs and professional development/clock hours are available.
