PhD Student, 1st Year
Psychology Department

David is a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical Health Psychology program at CU Denver. David graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Sociology. David has spent the past 4 years working in the Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center’s Health Disparities and Equity Core and Balls-Berry Lab at Washington University’s Department of Neurology. He contributed to epidemiological research focused on understanding and reducing health disparities among minoritized groups, developing culturally appropriate disease prevention and detection efforts, and increasing the participation of minoritized community members in clinical trials. He also gained experience working as an Integrated Health Coach at a community mental health organization, demonstrating how racial/ethnic disparities in mental and physical health care impact the lived experiences of young adults. David’s research interests include social and structural determinants of health, health promotion and education in minoritized communities, psychosocial interventions designed to reduce racial/ethnic health disparities, and culturally competent prevention, diagnostic and treatment methods. David enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, trying new restaurants, exploring the outdoors, and skiing.
