New Course Announcement for 2024 Spring Semester

 The Department will be offering new courses for the 2024 Spring Semester:

  • BIOL 4050/5050 Special Topics: Global Change Ecology (3 credits). What are the processes?  What are the Impacts? The course will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00-3:15p, NC 1521.  The course is open to all students who have taken BIOL 3411, Principles of Ecology or equivalent course.   • BIOL 4335/5335 Plant Structure and Development (4 cretis). Hybird delivery; lecture fully online, lab in person Wednesdays 1:00p-4:00p.  The course covers plant biochemistry and medicinal uses of plants, plant cell structure, tissue systems, functional anatomy and ecology, plant nutrition and propagation, plant growth, and development. Develop microscopy skills, enjoy some plant products, and take home your very own plants! Field trip to Denver Botanic Garden. This is the same class that was previously called "Plant Science". It is a 4 credit, 4000/5000 level course that includes lecture and lab. Lecture is totally online and the lab is in-person.  It is open to undergrads and grad students. It’s a fun class where students develop good microscopy skills and get to do fun things like propagate plants and go on a field trip to the Denver Botanic Gardens.
