"Diverse plant populations and robust ecological restoration"

The biological diversity that we observe in nature can be astounding. This is true when looking across species, but also within a single species. This intra-species diversity, largely shaped by natural selection, has implications for individual and population fitness. In this talk, I will discuss how genetic diversity impacts population dynamics on short time scales and implications for how local adaptation varies across traits and life stage. I will present experimental work in several different systems of wild plants in Colorado. Examples of how ecological and evolutionary theory are used in applied research, specifically ecological restoration, will be highlighted.

Everyone is welcome to the seminar.
