From genes to geographic ranges: understanding the mechanisms driving species’ responses to climate change
A major goal in ecology is to understand the processes that determine a species' vulnerability to climate change. In my seminar, I will demonstrate how behavioral and physiological responses to environmental variation structure species' responses to climate change in terrestrial animals. My lab uses a variety of approaches that I will cover, including laboratory experiments, mechanistic species distribution models, and transcriptomics. I will also demonstrate how genetic mechanisms driving these physiological responses can have consequences for organismal performance and fitness.
Everyone is welcome to the seminar. For more information please contact Dr. Greg Ragland.
