CU Denver support for DACA students

Dear Lynx community

A federal court has once again issued a ruling on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, as a district judge declared DACA unlawful on Wednesday despite the Biden administration’s attempt to codify the policy last year. Critically, the ruling keeps DACA benefits and Advance Parole for international travel in place for now and allows current DACA recipients to continue renewing their status.

While the ultimate fate of the DACA program and the roughly 600,000 immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children will likely be determined by higher courts in the future, CU Denver is proud to support these Dreamers, including nearly 100 undocumented students who are seeking a better life by pursuing a college education with us.

In recent years, CU Denver has supported undocumented students by offering and continuing to strengthen direct support from Undocumented Student Services, raising money for our undocumented student support fund, and partnering with TheDream.US to offer a small number of scholarships.

We will continue our efforts to support our students, in our joint advocacy with other CU campuses and across higher education within Colorado, including initiating UndocuAllies training for our frontline staff, which cabinet and deans participated in last year.

Students who have questions can contact Undocumented Student Services at uss@ucdenver.edu. We know the value that undocumented students bring to our diverse learning community, and we will continue to support them as we ensure CU Denver makes education work for all.
