The genetic basis of mechanisms that maintain species boundaries
Species boundaries can be maintained by life history strategies that prevent mating from occurring, or through developmental incompatibilities that inhibit reproductive success. In this talk, I present research projects that examine genetic mechanisms underlying both pre- and post- mating barriers to hybridization in recently diverged taxa, from microhabitat partitioning in Malawi African cichlids to parent-of-origin effects on reproductive tissues in rodents.
