Members of the Cushing lab at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science attended the 22nd International Congress of Arachnology in Montevideo, Uruguay from March 5 to the 11th. Dr. Paula Cushing and PhD candidates Erika Garcia and Ryan Jones gave talks in a research symposium on camel spiders (Arachnida: Solifugae), showcasing their research and progress in understanding the enigmatic taxon group. Master’s student Goran Shikak also gave a presentation on his research project, detailing the methods and preliminary results of his morphological assessments of solifuge taxa. The Cushing lab also had the opportunity to visit colleagues at the Museo Argentina de Ciencias Naturales in Buenos Aires to share ideas and data. Goran and Ryan thank the CLAS and Denver campus Provost’s office for travel funding, and Ryan would like to thank the Integrative Biology Department for funding as well.
