Assistant Professor Sara Branco published a Tansley review in the journal New Phytologist entitled ‘Mechanisms of stress tolerance and their effects on the ecology and evolution of mycorrhizal fungi’ (https://nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/98WM38S5DPYCAKKT56KD?target=10.1111/nph.18308). This work was a collaborative effort with Dr. Hui-Ling Liao (University of Florida) , Dr. Joske Ruytinx (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium), and Annie Schauster (a former graduate student in Integrative Biology), and documents how mutualistic fungi associated with plant roots respond to environmental stress and act to protect their plant partners. New Phytologist is a leading journal in the plant sciences (with impact factor of 10.32) and Tansley reviews are widely recognized across the community. They are in-depth invited reviews that are both authoritative and accessible and address the most exciting and ground-breaking research.
