Summer Research Assistants Needed to Help with Field Work Studying Urban Cooper's Hawks

-Timeframe: Late June-All of July
-Hours: 20 hours/week (Flexible scheduling, but most hours will be completed in the morning)

-Compensation: Pay dependent on work-study status
-Requirements: Physically capable of walking 7-10 miles a day, own transportation preferred, but not needed.

Details:
This position will work with a UCD Master’s Student in the Integrative Biology Department looking at occupancy of nesting Cooper’s hawks in Denver County. Birds wake up early, so most of the hours will be between 6:30 and 11:30 in the morning. This position is responsible for identifying occupied Cooper’s hawk nests during the fledging period (will receive training). This includes using binoculars, walking through various neighborhoods of Denver at potentially hot or busy times of day, and adhering to safety and survey protocol. Ideal candidates will have: 1) Their own transportation 2) Availability on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and as many weekends as possible (negotiable) 3) Strong attention to detail 4) An interest in wildlife
