Buffering craniofacial variation

Human faces are variable, we all look different from one another. Human craniofacial diseases are also variable. Some people inherit a deleterious mutation and suffer devastating birth defects, while others inherit the same disease allele and live normal unaffected lives. The Nichols laboratory uses the zebrafish system to understand craniofacial development and variability. I will discuss progress we’ve made understanding the mechanisms buffering facial variation, including how some genetically resilient individuals can overcome a deleterious mutant allele.

Everyone is welcome to join the seminar, please complete the RSVP FORM to receive the Zoom link. Forms can be submitted any time before the seminar but not after 10:00am the day of the seminar.
