Integrative Biology Travel Policy and Application, Spring 2021

Published: March 12, 2021

From Virginia Ware -

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well and had a great weekend. I’ve attached the updated “travel” award application for this spring – I say “travel” because as many of you know, there is still a University wide travel ban in place. That being said, the department would still like to make funds available for students to use for attendance to virtual conferences and events this spring and summer. Please note, if the travel ban is lifted, these funds may be applied towards conference travel. The next travel award application cycle will not be until this fall, so please apply now for any travel between now and the end of October 2021.

This is a new(ish) process for all of us, so even if you are unsure whether or not these “travel” funds can be used for your event, please apply and we will give each application full consideration and award funds if available. We are offering up to $500 in funds per student.

This application and all supporting materials are due electronically to me (virginia.ware@ucdenver.edu) by Monday, March 29th. The entire application should be electronically fillable. Advisors will need to sign at the bottom of each application and should be able to do so using the “Fill & Sign” feature of Adobe. If you have any issues, please let me know.

The required application materials are as follows:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Student CV
  3. Proposed abstract of the work to be presented at the meeting (include authors and affiliations) OR a detailed description of the event the student is requesting funds for.

Please note: Stephanie Puello at the Graduate School confirmed that they also have funds available for virtual conference attendance – questions about those awards can be directed to Stephanie.Puello@ucdenver.edu. As a reminder, you must apply for department funds before applying for graduate school funds.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Best,
Ginny
