Safe Return To Campus Weekly Update - 8/20/2020

Published: Aug. 21, 2020

Welcome back, Lynx! As we look ahead to a successful semester, we will continue to provide weekly updates. Below is a summary, and those who are interested in more detail can view the full update

Self-Pay Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing for Staff and Faculty
CU Denver has obtained $10 self-pay asymptomatic testing for our staff and faculty, through a partnership with COVIDCheck Colorado/Gary Community Investments. Students will have the same opportunity; announcement forthcoming.

Because testing resources are limited, staff and faculty who are working on campus will receive first priority for asymptomatic testing—you do not need to work on campus every day to qualify for testing. Upon paying the fee, and if there is testing capacity, you will be permitted to sign up for an appointment and a test location. Sign up for COVID-19 Asymptomatic Test.

Daily Health Station Check-Ins
Roughly 1,350 people checked into a health check-in station on Monday and around 1,000 each on Tuesday and Wednesday, with more expected through the week. A reminder that health check-in stations are currently open at Lynx Crossing Residence Hall, North Classroom Building, the Student Wellness Center, Business School, and CU Denver Building. View the health check-in station locations.

Call for Heath Station Check-In Volunteers
We are still looking for faculty and staff to volunteer for two-hour shifts at the North Classroom or Business School health check-in stations. New shifts at additional locations will be made available weekly.

Sign up for a shift next week, Aug 24 – 28:

Updated Safety Protocol Graphic
Now that the fall semester has started, faculty and staff are encouraged to add an updated “6 Steps for a Safe Campus” graphic to their email signatures as a replacement to their current logo/social elements or any additional elements outside of contact info.

Air Handling Changes
Facilities is following recommendations from the CDC for handling building air, including regular inspections that ensure fresh air ventilation in buildings, increased amount of ventilation air in buildings, and more. Visit the Facilities webpage on air handling.

Student Course Assistants and Learning Assistants Help Launch Semester
Sixty-one students were hired to serve as student course assistants to support technology needs of faculty teaching 157 course sections across all schools and colleges, and 98 learning assistants positions were filled to assist faculty teaching STEM courses. Learn more about the new positions.
