Brian Buma and Lukasz Pawlik of Poland (a CU Denver visiting scholar with Buma, in summer 2019), published a review article on how the evolution of trees may have impacted the terrain and climate of the Devonian period, a timeframe with mass extinctions and swings of climate. Several other Polish ecologists and geologists contributed. The paper was published in Earth Science Reviews, and is available here:
