2020 Spring Seminars, Events and Meetings

Published: March 13, 2020

Below is a message  from CU Denver Events concerning meetings and events.  So far the Department has cancelled in person meetings and room reservations for some thesis meetings and luncheons however, organizers still have the option of conducting their meetings remotely.   PLEASE NOTE:  All the Spring Seminar Series are scheduled to be presented via ZOOM on their scheduled dates and time.

From CU Denver Events

As a reminder, from now through March 29th, events of 75 people or more are prohibited.  Events of fewer than 75 people are encouraged to consider postponing or cancelling if the gathering is not essential to university business.  If the event continues, additional precautions must be taken for infection prevention:

  • Make remote participation available when possible
  • Ask attendees to practice good hygiene:
  • Stay home if you feel sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and immediately dispose of the tissue.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Make hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies available.
  • Disinfect high touch surfaces more frequently.
  • Try to find ways to give people more physical space.
  • Structure programming to discourage physical contact (handshakes/high fives/sharing of materials)
  • Evaluate food service options to consider individually-packaged items. Avoid self-serve buffets with shared utensils. Hire additional staff to serve guests. Discourage reusable cups and eliminate                beverage dispensers.
  • Post signage to educate and remind attendees about good hygiene practices.

Beginning March 30th all non-essential events, gatherings, campus visits, regardless of size, will be cancelled until further notice.  If you have a reservation with an off-campus venue, with AHEC Event Services, or in CU Denver’s EMS after this time, please take steps to make the cancellation or reschedule for next semester.  This will assist in staff and resource planning for the university, so please prioritize this request.  For assistance in editing or cancelling bookings in CU Denver’s EMS, please review page 56 and 90 in the EMS User’s Guide.  While the situation is continuing to evolve, you should anticipate that this policy will remain in effect as long as classes are being conducted remotely.
