Wildfire and climate influences on forest carbon carrying capacity
Understanding how projected climate and climate-driven increases in wildfire will alter forest carbon dynamics requires understanding climate-fire-forest feedbacks. Positive feedbacks in this system have the potential to increase area burned and emissions, decrease forest cover and landscape carbon uptake and storage. Quantifying forest ecosystem response to these feedbacks is central to projecting the potential for fire-prone forests to mitigate climate and for estimating the potential for forest management to mitigate the magnitude and rate of forest change.
Everyone is welcome to the seminar. If you would like to meet with the speaker, please email Dr. Brian Buma at brian.buma@ucdenver.edu
