Katherine Hayes, PhD. candidate in Dr. Brian Buma's lab, was awarded a GRIN (Graduate Research Innovation Grant) to expand her PhD work focusing on vegetation succession and in particular how changes in the post-fire communities alter flammability, testing the overall strength of negative feedbacks associated with the transition to deciduous species in the boreal forests of Alaska.
