Clostridoides difficile infection is the leading cause of hospital-acquired diarrhea and rates of occurrence are on the rise. Factors that disrupt the intestinal microbiome such as antibiotics, are a major risk factor. Dr. Lozupone will summarize how the gut microbiome plays a role in protection from C. difficile infection and will describe research conducted in her lab supporting that reducing dietary fat and increasing dietary fiber is a promising preventative strategy.

Everyone is welcome to the seminar. If you would like to meet with the speaker, please email Dr. Brian Buma at brian.buma@ucdenver.edu
