Dr. Richard M. Allen is a Professor in the University of Colorado Denver Department of Psychology and serves as the Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum in the CU Denver College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  Dr. Allen earned his PhD in Neurobiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999, and has been a member of the faculty at CU Denver since 2001.  Dr. Allen is committed to programs that build CU Denver’s capacity for inclusive excellence and improve student success, and centers this work through the newly-formed CLAS Office for Inclusive Excellence in STEM. Currently, he serves as Principal Investigator / Program Director for a National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS)-funded Maximizing Access to Research Careers award, as Program Director for a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence award, and as a Strategic Project Lead for CU Denver’s involvement in the national Student Experience Project (funded by the Association of Public Land Grant Universities and the Raikes Foundation.)
