Terminations

When entering a termination in HCM, navigate to the Transaction Launch Page > Enter EID# > Search Option: Termination, if applicable.

Expected Job End Dates and Appointment End Dates

  • Expected Job end dates and Appointment end dates are the employee's last day worked (i.e. 12/31/24)
  • Termination dates are the day after the employee's last day worked (i.e. 1/1/25)
    • Please run the End of Appointment/Contract query. This will show you what appointments have end dates entered that are coming up soon so that you can either terminate the employee or put them on short work break (for monthly/hourly appointments).  This report also shows upcoming contract end dates.  If you have an employee who will not return after their contract ends, terminate their appointment effective the date after their contract ends. Please remember that appointment end dates do not stop pay or auto-terminate appointments.  If you do not take action on these appointments when they end, employees will continue to get paid.  Please terminate or SWB the employees effective the date after their appointment ends.  Expected job end dates will terminate appointments if eligible.
    • Please run the Auto Term queries.  You can enter the expected job end date for an employee during the hire or reappointment process. Appointments will auto-terminate, if eligible, based on the expected job end date.
  • A termination or SWB must be entered for an employee in HCM in order to stop pay. Use the following guides for assistance in entering either a termination or a SWB:
