GES is consolidating its two geospatial labs into a single home for spatial technology, research, and student support. The Facility for Advanced Spatial Technologies (the FAST Lab) is combining with the Geospatial Analysis and Mapping Laboratory (the GAM Lab), with all services now operating under the GAM Lab name.
Students who previously relied on the FAST Lab for GIS coursework (open lab hours, technical support, and access to well-configured workstations) will now find all of that in the GAM Lab, CLAS' geospatial service center located in Room 3212, North Classroom Building.
What's Staying the Same
The core support that made the FAST Lab valuable to GIS students isn't going anywhere; it's just moving. GAM Lab student assistants will continue to offer open lab hours, technical help with geospatial software, and basic learning support for students in GIS classes. Students are welcome to use the lab's well-configured computers or its open spaces for group work or laptop-based projects.
