The GAMLab is excited to announce its upcoming colloquium, "Mapping Stories with Data," featuring alumna Sarah Melotte. Scheduled for Tuesday, April 28th, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in the North Building, Room 3212 (GAMLab), the workshop will explore the intersection of journalism and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Melotte, a geographer and writer now based in North Carolina, serves as an editor for The Daily Yonder, where she utilizes data-driven analyses and cartography to cover news across rural America.

During the session, Melotte will discuss her unique career path as a cartographer-journalist and introduce attendees to the specialized software applications she uses to produce maps for national news. While the event is primarily designed for graduate students interested in leveraging geography skills for diverse job opportunities, undergraduates and faculty are also encouraged to attend. For those unable to join in person at the North Building, register for a Zoom link here.
