Kim Kennedy White is an independent folklorist and lecturer in the Ethnic Studies department where she teaches courses in cultural diversity, ethnicity and race in contemporary American culture, and global media. Dr. White is a first-generation college student from Boulder, Colorado and earned a PhD in educational leadership & innovation (University of Colorado at Denver), an MA in folklore (University of Oregon, Eugene), and a BA in English literature (Metropolitan State University of Denver). Her current work explores intersections of identity and culture through traditional arts. Dr. White is the editor of Folk Heroes and Heroines Around the World (Greenwood, 2016), America Goes Green: An Encyclopedia of Eco-Friendly Culture in the United States (ABC-CLIO, 2012), and Folklore: An Encyclopedia of Beliefs, Customs, Tales, Music, and Art (ABC-CLIO, 2010).
