Lacy Lowrey received her Master of Arts in Communication at San Diego State University in 2011. Her thesis “When God Gives You AIDS … Make Lemon-AIDS”: Ironic Persona and Perspective by Incongruity in Sarah Silverman's Jesus is Magic,” as well as her other publications focused on women comedians and their social influence, all highlight her interest in the way women use humor as a rhetorical device to spotlight problematic social issues and enact change.
