
James O’Mara is a PhD candidate in Communication Studies at Colorado State University. His research interests coalesce around socioeconomic class, rhetoric, cultural studies, and materiality. His dissertation offers a rhetorical criticism of working-class places in Fort Collins, Colorado, which aids scholars in understanding how consumer practices in the US contribute to horizontal class antagonism. James has also co-authored an essay that examines the rhetorical contours of the relationship between Columbus, Indiana, and their largest corporate employer, Cummins Inc. His work has been published in Communication Studies and presented at the National Communication Association, Rhetoric Society of America, and Western States Communication Association conferences. He is currently teaching COMM 1021: Introduction to Media Studies, COMM 2075: Research and Writing in Communication, COMM 4031: Perspectives in Communication, COMM 4076: New Media and Society.
