Dr. William Balco PhD, RPA, is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Denver. He is an archaeologist who has directed research and compliance-based excavations in North America (Midwest and Southeast) and in the Mediterranean (Sicily). His research interests include expressions of identity, exchange patterns, households, and social transformations in the past. He has published a variety of book chapters as well as articles in journals including Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports, Journal of Mediterranean Archaeology, Journal of Community Archaeology and Heritage, Layers: Archeologia, Territorio, Contesti, Archaeological Prospection, Early Georgia, and Quarternary Science Reviews.
