Interpreter/Research Assistant for Class Fieldwork Project on Asylum
Pay: $18.29/hour, approx. 3-7 hours/week
Dr. Horton in the Anthropology Department is looking for a Research Assistant who is bilingual in Spanish to help interpret for monolingual English-speaking students in the Anthropology class, “Immigrant Health,” as they help asylum seekers file their applications in a free legal clinic. The position will involve interpretation for between 3 and 7 hours a week on Thursdays and Fridays. The sessions are on Thursday and Friday from 9-noon and noon-4 pm; the RA must be available to interpret during at least one, preferably two, of the four sessions each week. The asylum clinics are held in churches across the Denver metro area, so transportation is necessary. Pay will be $18.29/hour, and preference will be given to Anthropology students.
I am looking for students with the following qualifications:
--Native Spanish speaker (a plus: familiar with Venezuelan or Colombian Spanish)
--Detail-oriented and conscientious
--Preference given to Anthropology students
