Expertise Areas: kinship, disability, bioethics, Middle East, North America
Christine Sargent is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Denver. Her areas of expertise include kinship, gender, and disability in the Arabic-speaking Middle East. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan in 2018. Her research uses families' experiences with Down Syndrome to understand how kinship-based networks of care shape the boundaries of health, illness, and "normality" in contemporary Jordan. She is broadly interested in disability, reproductive technologies, and bioethics in both the Middle East and in North America.
