The CLAS Academic Standards Committee reviews several types of petitions from students. The committee consists of 5 voting faculty members, 2 voting student members, and additional members who serve in an advisory capacity but do not vote. Please see below for more information on the kind of petition you are submitting.
The committee meets on the last Friday of the month from August through May (except December). Since the committee does not meet over the summer, petitions submitted over the summer will be considered at the first meeting of the upcoming fall semester. Petition materials must be submitted by the submission deadline in order to give committee members time to carefully read and review each petition. Please see the chart to the right for more details. Complete petitions received after the due date will be considered at the next meeting date.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their CLAS Academic Advisor before submitting a petition to learn more about how the petition could impact their academic record.
