Pedro Asmar De Lucas Brea

Dr. Pedro Brea
Lecturer
Philosophy

Expertise Areas: Metaphysics, Continental Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy, Philosophy of Physical Science

Pedro recently completed his PhD in Philosophy at the University of North Texas (July 2024) and has a BS in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Pedro’s research is situated in the intersection of Metaphysics, Continental Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy, and Philosophy of Physical Science. For his doctoral dissertation, Pedro developed a genealogical study of the concept of energy in western philosophy and science, focusing on how energy has been theorized historically in relation to time. Among the main influences on this genealogical study were the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche, Henri Bergson, and Gilles Deleuze. His research explores forms of temporality beyond the traditional linear time of western science and metaphysics, towards a non-representational conception of the past.
