On April 12, 2024 Professor David Hildebrand gave an invited talk to a multidisciplinary audience at the University of Bologna entitled, "Preserving meaning in an age of Algorithms and A.I. — Borgmann and Dewey."
The talk discussed the potential for new technologies -- particularly algorithmic-based tools such as ChatGPT and other A.I. generators, to affect changes in habits that impact how we learn, collaborate in social and personal arenas, and effects upon our capacity for empathy when technologies speed us up, distract us, or “hypernudge us.”
