Geospatial students will soon have a new central hub for learning, collaboration, and support.
This Fall 2026, the University of Colorado Denver College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is bringing its geospatial student resources together in one location. The Facility for Advanced Spatial Technology (FAST) Lab is migrating its student services, software access, and printing resources to the Geospatial Analysis & Mapping Laboratory (GAMLab) in North Classroom 3212. The Fast Lab’s physical space will continue to operate as much-needed classroom space.
This reorganization is designed to better meet the needs of students by creating a more connected learning environment. Located within the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences, the GAMLab places students alongside GIS faculty, researchers, and departmental resources. This makes it easier to access academic support, collaborate on projects, and engage with the geospatial community.
Students will continue to have access to the same industry-standard geospatial software and computing resources they rely on for coursework, research, and professional skill development. Printing services previously available through the FAST Lab will also relocate to the GAMLab, creating a convenient, centralized space for geospatial students. The FAST Lab has long served as a collaborative teaching and learning hub for geospatial technologies, and this transition builds on that legacy by bringing students closer to the people and resources that support their success.

The Geospatial Analysis and Mapping Laboratory (GAMLab) is located in CU Denver's Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences (GES), providing easy access to visualize, explore, analyze, and propose solutions to human-environmental challenges using Geographic Information Science and Technology. The GAMLab enables and supports the geospatial research activities of faculty and students, in addition to facilitating collaborations between GES and other members of academic, government, private, and community sectors.
The GAMLab offers mapping, visualization, and analysis services to both internal and external clients, including map production, informational graphics, digitizing, data compilation, spatial analysis, and consulting. Please contact us to inquire about our services.
